β€œThat is the nature of a pilgrimage. It has to unfold one leg, one day, one hour, and sometimes, one pedal stroke at a time.”

~ Brian Heron, from the Rome to Rumi Pilgrimage

Americans are increasingly suffering from the effects of isolation, separation and privatization. A new culture built on experiences of transformation, intimacy and connection is emerging.

I am a cultural innovator and spiritual pilgrim. My mission is to cultivate a culture of people committed to individual and community transformation through the power of the trail, the road and the pilgrim path.

Spain has the Camino de Santiago. Britain has the British Pilgrimage Trust.

PEDAL PILGRIM VISION

With the growth of adventure travel and pilgrimages and the increasing availability of church real estate, America has a rare opportunity to build an infrastructure that would promote environmentally friendly travel, cross cultural connection and a pilgrimage culture.

This is just the beginning.

MODEL PROJECTS

Monitor the progress of the two projects that will serve as the models for a nationwide network of pilgrim hostels on the 175,000 plus miles of designated routes and trails in America. The vision starts with the Oregon Coast Trail and the nearly 1,000-mile Trail of Tears that extends from North Carolina to Oklahoma.

β€œIt’s as if the physical exertion the terrain requires is an invitation to be part of the terrain and the beauty. The line between observer and observed dissolves. I was no longer looking at a mountain: I was part of the mountain.”
